Venus and Jupiter put on a show:
For the Northern Hemisphere, mid-March 2012 presents the best time to see a Venus-Jupiter conjunction in the evening for years to come.
At mid-northern latitudes, these two brightest planets – Venus and Jupiter – stay out for nearly four hours after sunset. That’s about the longest period possible at these latitudes. You can’t miss these two worlds in the west as darkness falls.

125 Years in New York Harbor:
Happy Birthday to the Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty, America's symbol welcoming immigrants, celebrates its 125th birthday in New York City.
More than five million people visit the American landmark every year, with 20,000 tourists a day flocking to the site during the summer but beginning Saturday 29 October 29, the landmark will close for about a year while the statue is renovated.
As part of a tribute to a military choir sang America The Beautiful and actress Sigourney Weaver read Emma Lazurus' poem The New Colossus, which contains the quote which embodied the ideals of freedom in the New World.
The copper-covered statue was a gift to the US from France in 1886, and as part of the celebration, 125 immigrants from 46 different countries became the newest citizens of the US during a separate ceremony under the Statue of Liberty.
